Quran 34:22

Surah Saba, Verse 22

قُلِ ٱدْعُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ زَعَمْتُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَلَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا لَهُمْ فِيهِمَا مِن شِرْكٍ وَمَا لَهُۥ مِنْهُم مِّن ظَهِيرٍ

Word by word

قُلِ quli Say ٱدْعُوا۟ id'ʿū Call upon ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna those whom زَعَمْتُم zaʿamtum you claim مِّن min besides دُونِ dūni besides ٱللَّهِ ۖ l-lahi Allah لَا lā Not يَمْلِكُونَ yamlikūna they possess مِثْقَالَ mith'qāla (the) weight ذَرَّةٍۢ dharratin (of) an atom فِى fī in ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ l-samāwāti the heavens وَلَا walā and not فِى fī in ٱلْأَرْضِ l-arḍi the earth وَمَا wamā and not لَهُمْ lahum for them فِيهِمَا fīhimā in both of them مِن min any شِرْكٍۢ shir'kin partnership وَمَا wamā and not لَهُۥ lahu for Him مِنْهُم min'hum from them مِّن min any ظَهِيرٍۢ ẓahīrin supporter

Transliteration

Quli odAAoo allatheena zaAAamtum mindooni Allahi la yamlikoona mithqala tharratinfee assamawati wala fee al-ardiwama lahum feehima min shirkin wama lahuminhum min thaheer

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

Say (O Muhammad): Call upon those whom ye set up beside Allah! They possess not an atom's weight either in the heavens or in the earth, nor have they any share in either, nor hath He an auxiliary among them.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

Say: "Call upon other (gods) whom ye fancy, besides Allah: They have no power,- not the weight of an atom,- in the heavens or on earth: No (sort of) share have they therein, nor is any of them a helper to Allah.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

بين تعالى أنه الإله الواحد الأحد ، الفرد الصمد ، الذي لا نظير له ولا شريك له ، بل هو المستقل بالأمر وحده ، من غير مشارك ولا منازع ولا معارض ، فقال : ( قل ادعوا الذين زعمتم من دون الله ) أي : من الآلهة التي عبدت من دونه ( لا يملكون مثقال ذرة في السماوات ولا في الأرض ) ، كما قال تبارك وتعالى : ( والذين تدعون من دونه ما يملكون من قطمير ) [ فاطر : 13 ] .

وقوله : ( وما لهم فيهما من شرك ) أي : لا يملكون شيئا استقلالا ولا على سبيل الشركة ، ( وما له منهم من ظهير ) أي : وليس لله من هذه الأنداد من ظهير يستظهر به في الأمور ، بل الخلق كلهم فقراء إليه ، عبيد لديه .

قال قتادة في قوله : ( وما له منهم من ظهير ) ، من عون يعينه بشيء .
