Quran 37:113

Surah As-Saaffaat, Verse 113

وَبَٰرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰٓ إِسْحَٰقَ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِنٌ وَظَالِمٌ لِّنَفْسِهِۦ مُبِينٌ

Word by word

وَبَـٰرَكْنَا wabāraknā And We blessed عَلَيْهِ ʿalayhi him وَعَلَىٰٓ waʿalā and [on] إِسْحَـٰقَ ۚ is'ḥāqa Isaac وَمِن wamin And of ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا dhurriyyatihimā their offspring مُحْسِنٌۭ muḥ'sinun (are) good-doers وَظَالِمٌۭ waẓālimun and unjust لِّنَفْسِهِۦ linafsihi to himself مُبِينٌۭ mubīnun clear

Transliteration

Wabarakna AAalayhi waAAalaishaqa wamin thurriyyatihima muhsinunwathalimun linafsihi mubeen

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

And We blessed him and Isaac. And of their seed are some who do good, and some who plainly wrong themselves.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

We blessed him and Isaac: but of their progeny are (some) that do right, and (some) that obviously do wrong, to their own souls.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وقوله : ( وباركنا عليه وعلى إسحاق ومن ذريتهما محسن وظالم لنفسه مبين ) كقوله تعالى : ( قيل يا نوح اهبط بسلام منا وبركات عليك وعلى أمم ممن معك وأمم سنمتعهم ثم يمسهم منا عذاب أليم ) [ هود : 48 ] .
