Quran 37:5

Surah As-Saaffaat, Verse 5

رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ ٱلْمَشَٰرِقِ

Word by word

رَّبُّ rabbu Lord ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ l-samāwāti (of) the heavens وَٱلْأَرْضِ wal-arḍi and the earth وَمَا wamā and what بَيْنَهُمَا baynahumā (is) between both of them وَرَبُّ warabbu and Lord ٱلْمَشَـٰرِقِ l-mashāriqi (of) each point of sunrise

Transliteration

Rabbu assamawati wal-ardiwama baynahuma warabbu almashariq

Lord of the heavens and of the earth and all that is between them, and Lord of the sun's risings.

Lord of the heavens and of the earth and all between them, and Lord of every point at the rising of the sun!

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وقوله : ( إن إلهكم لواحد ) هذا هو المقسم عليه ، أنه تعالى لا إله إلا هو ( رب السماوات والأرض وما بينهما ) أي : من المخلوقات ، ( ورب المشارق ) أي : هو المالك المتصرف في الخلق بتسخيره بما فيه من كواكب ثوابت ، وسيارات تبدو من المشرق ، وتغرب من المغرب . واكتفى بذكر المشارق عن المغارب لدلالتها عليه . وقد صرح بذلك في قوله : ( فلا أقسم برب المشارق والمغارب إنا لقادرون ) [ المعارج : 40 ] . وقال في الآية الأخرى : ( رب المشرقين ورب المغربين ) [ الرحمن : 17 ] يعني في الشتاء والصيف ، للشمس والقمر .
