Quran 38:10

Surah Saad, Verse 10

أَمْ لَهُم مُّلْكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فَلْيَرْتَقُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَسْبَٰبِ

Word by word

أَمْ am Or لَهُم lahum for them مُّلْكُ mul'ku (is the) dominion ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ l-samāwāti (of) the heavens وَٱلْأَرْضِ wal-arḍi and the earth وَمَا wamā and whatever بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ baynahumā (is) between them فَلْيَرْتَقُوا۟ falyartaqū Then let them ascend فِى fī by ٱلْأَسْبَـٰبِ l-asbābi the means

Transliteration

Am lahum mulku assamawatiwal-ardi wama baynahuma falyartaqoofee al-asbab

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them theirs? Then let them ascend by ropes!

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

Or have they the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all between? If so, let them mount up with the ropes and means (to reach that end)!

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وقوله : ( أم لهم ملك السماوات والأرض وما بينهما فليرتقوا في الأسباب ) أي : إن كان لهم ذلك فليصعدوا في الأسباب .

قال ابن عباس ، ومجاهد وسعيد بن جبير وقتادة وغيرهم : يعني طرق السماء .

وقال الضحاك : فليصعدوا إلى السماء السابعة .
