Quran 39:35

Surah Az-Zumar, Verse 35

لِيُكَفِّرَ ٱللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ أَسْوَأَ ٱلَّذِى عَمِلُوا۟ وَيَجْزِيَهُمْ أَجْرَهُم بِأَحْسَنِ ٱلَّذِى كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ

Word by word

لِيُكَفِّرَ liyukaffira That Allah will remove ٱللَّهُ l-lahu That Allah will remove عَنْهُمْ ʿanhum from them أَسْوَأَ aswa-a (the) worst ٱلَّذِى alladhī (of) what عَمِلُوا۟ ʿamilū they did وَيَجْزِيَهُمْ wayajziyahum and reward them أَجْرَهُم ajrahum their due بِأَحْسَنِ bi-aḥsani for (the) best ٱلَّذِى alladhī (of) what كَانُوا۟ kānū they used to يَعْمَلُونَ yaʿmalūna do

Transliteration

Liyukaffira Allahu AAanhum aswaa allatheeAAamiloo wayajziyahum ajrahum bi-ahsani allathee kanooyaAAmaloon

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

That Allah will remit from them the worst of what they did, and will pay them for reward the best they used to do.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

So that Allah will turn off from them (even) the worst in their deeds and give them their reward according to the best of what they have done.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

ليكفر الله عنهم أسوأ الذي عملوا ويجزيهم أجرهم بأحسن الذي كانوا يعملون ) كما قال في الآية الأخرى : ( أولئك الذين نتقبل عنهم أحسن ما عملوا ونتجاوز عن سيئاتهم في أصحاب الجنة وعد الصدق الذي كانوا يوعدون ) [ الأحقاف : 16 ] .
