Quran 4:26

Surah An-Nisaa, Verse 26

يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ لِيُبَيِّنَ لَكُمْ وَيَهْدِيَكُمْ سُنَنَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ وَيَتُوبَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ

Word by word

يُرِيدُ yurīdu Wishes ٱللَّهُ l-lahu Allah لِيُبَيِّنَ liyubayyina to make clear لَكُمْ lakum to you وَيَهْدِيَكُمْ wayahdiyakum and to guide you سُنَنَ sunana (to) ways ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna (of) those مِن min from قَبْلِكُمْ qablikum before you وَيَتُوبَ wayatūba and (to) accept repentance عَلَيْكُمْ ۗ ʿalaykum from you وَٱللَّهُ wal-lahu And Allah عَلِيمٌ ʿalīmun (is) All-Knowing حَكِيمٌۭ ḥakīmun All-Wise

Transliteration

Yureedu Allahu liyubayyina lakumwayahdiyakum sunana allatheena min qablikum wayatoobaAAalaykum wallahu AAaleemun hakeem

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

Allah would explain to you and guide you by the examples of those who were before you, and would turn to you in mercy. Allah is Knower, Wise.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

Allah doth wish to make clear to you and to show you the ordinances of those before you; and (He doth wish to) turn to you (In Mercy): And Allah is All-knowing, All-wise.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

يخبر تعالى أنه يريد أن يبين لكم - أيها المؤمنون - ما أحل لكم وحرم عليكم ، مما تقدم ذكره في هذه السورة وغيرها ، ( ويهديكم سنن الذين من قبلكم ) يعني : طرائقهم الحميدة واتباع شرائعه التي يحبها ويرضاها ( ويتوب عليكم ) أي من الإثم والمحارم ، ( والله عليم حكيم ) أي في شرعه وقدره وأفعاله وأقواله .
