Quran 40:31

Surah Al-Ghaafir, Verse 31

مِثْلَ دَأْبِ قَوْمِ نُوحٍ وَعَادٍ وَثَمُودَ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ وَمَا ٱللَّهُ يُرِيدُ ظُلْمًا لِّلْعِبَادِ

Word by word

مِثْلَ mith'la Like دَأْبِ dabi (the) plight قَوْمِ qawmi (of the) people نُوحٍۢ nūḥin (of) Nuh وَعَادٍۢ waʿādin and Aad وَثَمُودَ wathamūda and Thamud وَٱلَّذِينَ wa-alladhīna and those مِنۢ min after them بَعْدِهِمْ ۚ baʿdihim after them وَمَا wamā And Allah (does) not ٱللَّهُ l-lahu And Allah (does) not يُرِيدُ yurīdu want ظُلْمًۭا ẓul'man injustice لِّلْعِبَادِ lil'ʿibādi for (His) slaves

Transliteration

Mithla da/bi qawmi noohin waAAadinwathamooda wallatheena min baAAdihim wamaAllahu yureedu thulman lilAAibad

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

A plight like that of Noah's folk, and A'ad and Thamud, and those after them, and Allah willeth no injustice for (His) slaves.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

"Something like the fate of the People of Noah, the 'Ad, and the Thamud, and those who came after them: but Allah never wishes injustice to his Servants.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

كقوم نوح وعاد وثمود ، والذين من بعدهم من الأمم المكذبة ، كيف حل بهم بأس الله ، وما رده عنهم راد ، ولا صده عنهم صاد .

( وما الله يريد ظلما للعباد ) أي : إنما أهلكهم الله بذنوبهم ، وتكذيبهم رسله ، ومخالفتهم أمره . فأنفذ فيهم قدره ،
