Quran 40:64

Surah Al-Ghaafir, Verse 64

ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ قَرَارًا وَٱلسَّمَآءَ بِنَآءً وَصَوَّرَكُمْ فَأَحْسَنَ صُوَرَكُمْ وَرَزَقَكُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتِ ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ فَتَبَارَكَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ

Word by word

ٱللَّهُ al-lahu Allah ٱلَّذِى alladhī (is) the One Who جَعَلَ jaʿala made لَكُمُ lakumu for you ٱلْأَرْضَ l-arḍa the earth قَرَارًۭا qarāran a place of settlement وَٱلسَّمَآءَ wal-samāa and the sky بِنَآءًۭ bināan a canopy وَصَوَّرَكُمْ waṣawwarakum and He formed you فَأَحْسَنَ fa-aḥsana and perfected صُوَرَكُمْ ṣuwarakum your forms وَرَزَقَكُم warazaqakum and provided you مِّنَ mina of ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتِ ۚ l-ṭayibāti the good things ذَٰلِكُمُ dhālikumu That ٱللَّهُ l-lahu (is) Allah رَبُّكُمْ ۖ rabbukum your Lord فَتَبَارَكَ fatabāraka Then blessed (is) ٱللَّهُ l-lahu Allah رَبُّ rabbu (the) Lord ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ l-ʿālamīna (of) the worlds

Transliteration

Allahu allathee jaAAala lakumual-arda qararan wassamaa binaanwasawwarakum faahsana suwarakum warazaqakummina attayyibati thalikumu Allahurabbukum fatabaraka Allahu rabbu alAAalameen

Translations

Allah it is Who appointed for you the earth for a dwelling-place and the sky for a canopy, and fashioned you and perfected your shapes, and hath provided you with good things. Such is Allah, your Lord. Then blessed be Allah, the Lord of the Worlds!

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

It is Allah Who has made for you the earth as a resting place, and the sky as a canopy, and has given you shape- and made your shapes beautiful,- and has provided for you Sustenance, of things pure and good;- such is Allah your Lord. So Glory to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds!

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وقوله : ( الله الذي جعل لكم الأرض قرارا ) أي : جعلها مستقرا لكم ، بساطا مهادا تعيشون عليها ، وتتصرفون فيها ، وتمشون في مناكبها ، وأرساها بالجبال لئلا تميد بكم ، ( والسماء بناء ) أي : سقفا للعالم محفوظا ، ( وصوركم فأحسن صوركم ) أي : فخلقكم في أحسن الأشكال ، ومنحكم أكمل الصور في أحسن تقويم ، ( ورزقكم من الطيبات ) أي : من المآكل والمشارب في الدنيا . فذكر أنه خلق الدار ، والسكان ، والأرزاق - فهو الخالق الرازق ، كما قال في سورة البقرة : ( يا أيها الناس اعبدوا ربكم الذي خلقكم والذين من قبلكم لعلكم تتقون . الذي جعل لكم الأرض فراشا والسماء بناء وأنزل من السماء ماء فأخرج به من الثمرات رزقا لكم فلا تجعلوا لله أندادا وأنتم تعلمون ) [ البقرة : 21 ، 20 ] وقال هاهنا بعد خلق هذه الأشياء : ( ذلكم الله ربكم فتبارك الله رب العالمين ) أي : فتعالى وتقدس وتنزه رب العالمين كلهم .
