Quran 43:19

Surah Az-Zukhruf, Verse 19

وَجَعَلُوا۟ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عِبَٰدُ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ إِنَٰثًا أَشَهِدُوا۟ خَلْقَهُمْ سَتُكْتَبُ شَهَٰدَتُهُمْ وَيُسْـَٔلُونَ

Word by word

وَجَعَلُوا۟ wajaʿalū And they made ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ l-malāikata the Angels ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna those who هُمْ hum themselves عِبَـٰدُ ʿibādu (are) slaves ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ l-raḥmāni (of) the Most Gracious إِنَـٰثًا ۚ ināthan females أَشَهِدُوا۟ ashahidū Did they witness خَلْقَهُمْ ۚ khalqahum their creation سَتُكْتَبُ satuk'tabu Will be recorded شَهَـٰدَتُهُمْ shahādatuhum their testimony وَيُسْـَٔلُونَ wayus'alūna and they will be questioned

Transliteration

WajaAAaloo almala-ikata allatheenahum AAibadu arrahmani inathanashahidoo khalqahum satuktabu shahadatuhum wayus-aloon

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

And they make the angels, who are the slaves of the Beneficent, females. Did they witness their creation? Their testimony will be recorded and they will be questioned.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

And they make into females angels who themselves serve Allah. Did they witness their creation? Their evidence will be recorded, and they will be called to account!

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وقوله : ( وجعلوا الملائكة الذين هم عباد الرحمن إناثا ) أي : اعتقدوا فيهم ذلك ، فأنكر عليهم تعالى قولهم ذلك ، فقال : ( أشهدوا خلقهم ) أي : شاهدوه وقد خلقهم الله إناثا ، ( ستكتب شهادتهم ) أي : بذلك ، ( ويسألون ) عن ذلك يوم القيامة . وهذا تهديد شديد ، ووعيد أكيد .
