Quran 45:10

Surah Al-Jaathiya, Verse 10

مِّن وَرَآئِهِمْ جَهَنَّمُ وَلَا يُغْنِى عَنْهُم مَّا كَسَبُوا۟ شَيْـًٔا وَلَا مَا ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَوْلِيَآءَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ

Word by word

مِّن min Before them وَرَآئِهِمْ warāihim Before them جَهَنَّمُ ۖ jahannamu (is) Hell وَلَا walā and not يُغْنِى yugh'nī will avail عَنْهُم ʿanhum them مَّا mā what كَسَبُوا۟ kasabū they had earned شَيْـًۭٔا shayan anything وَلَا walā and not مَا mā what ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ ittakhadhū they had taken مِن min besides دُونِ dūni besides ٱللَّهِ l-lahi Allah أَوْلِيَآءَ ۖ awliyāa (as) protectors وَلَهُمْ walahum And for them عَذَابٌ ʿadhābun (is) a punishment عَظِيمٌ ʿaẓīmun great

Transliteration

Min wara-ihim jahannamu walayughnee AAanhum ma kasaboo shay-an wala maittakhathoo min dooni Allahi awliyaa walahumAAathabun AAatheem

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

Beyond them there is hell, and that which they have earned will naught avail them, nor those whom they have chosen for protecting friends beside Allah. Theirs will be an awful doom.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

In front of them is Hell: and of no profit to them is anything they may have earned, nor any protectors they may have taken to themselves besides Allah: for them is a tremendous Penalty.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

ثم فسر العذاب الحاصل له يوم معاده فقال : ( من ورائهم جهنم ) أي : كل من اتصف بذلك سيصيرون إلى جهنم يوم القيامة ، ( ولا يغني عنهم ما كسبوا شيئا ) أي : لا تنفعهم أموالهم ولا أولادهم ، ( ولا ما اتخذوا من دون الله أولياء ) أي : ولا تغني عنهم الآلهة التي عبدوها من دون الله شيئا ، ( ولهم عذاب عظيم )
