Quran 47:12

Surah Muhammad, Verse 12

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُدْخِلُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ جَنَّٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يَتَمَتَّعُونَ وَيَأْكُلُونَ كَمَا تَأْكُلُ ٱلْأَنْعَٰمُ وَٱلنَّارُ مَثْوًى لَّهُمْ

Word by word

إِنَّ inna Indeed ٱللَّهَ l-laha Allah يُدْخِلُ yud'khilu will admit ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna those who ءَامَنُوا۟ āmanū believe وَعَمِلُوا۟ waʿamilū and do ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ l-ṣāliḥāti righteous deeds جَنَّـٰتٍۢ jannātin (to) Gardens تَجْرِى tajrī flow مِن min from تَحْتِهَا taḥtihā underneath it ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ ۖ l-anhāru the rivers وَٱلَّذِينَ wa-alladhīna but those who كَفَرُوا۟ kafarū disbelieve يَتَمَتَّعُونَ yatamattaʿūna they enjoy وَيَأْكُلُونَ wayakulūna and eat كَمَا kamā as تَأْكُلُ takulu eat ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمُ l-anʿāmu the cattle وَٱلنَّارُ wal-nāru and the Fire مَثْوًۭى mathwan (will be) an abode لَّهُمْ lahum for them

Transliteration

Inna Allaha yudkhilu allatheenaamanoo waAAamiloo assalihati jannatintajree min tahtiha al-anharu wallatheenakafaroo yatamattaAAoona waya/kuloona kama ta/kulu al-anAAamuwannaru mathwan lahum

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

Lo! Allah will cause those who believe and do good works to enter Gardens underneath which rivers flow; while those who disbelieve take their comfort in this life and eat even as the cattle eat, and the Fire is their habitation.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

Verily Allah will admit those who believe and do righteous deeds, to Gardens beneath which rivers flow; while those who reject Allah will enjoy (this world) and eat as cattle eat; and the Fire will be their abode.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

ثم قال [ تعالى ( إن الله يدخل الذين آمنوا وعملوا الصالحات جنات تجري من تحتها الأنهار ) أي : يوم القيامة ( والذين كفروا يتمتعون ويأكلون كما تأكل الأنعام ) أي : في دنياهم ، يتمتعون بها ويأكلون منها كأكل الأنعام ، خضما وقضما وليس لهم همة إلا في ذلك . ولهذا ثبت في الصحيح : " المؤمن يأكل في معى واحد ، والكافر يأكل في سبعة أمعاء " .

ثم قال : ( والنار مثوى لهم ) أي : يوم جزائهم .
