Quran 47:31

Surah Muhammad, Verse 31

وَلَنَبْلُوَنَّكُمْ حَتَّىٰ نَعْلَمَ ٱلْمُجَٰهِدِينَ مِنكُمْ وَٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ وَنَبْلُوَا۟ أَخْبَارَكُمْ

Word by word

وَلَنَبْلُوَنَّكُمْ walanabluwannakum And surely We will test you حَتَّىٰ ḥattā until نَعْلَمَ naʿlama We make evident ٱلْمُجَـٰهِدِينَ l-mujāhidīna those who strive مِنكُمْ minkum among you وَٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ wal-ṣābirīna and the patient ones وَنَبْلُوَا۟ wanabluwā and We will test أَخْبَارَكُمْ akhbārakum your affairs

Transliteration

Walanabluwannakum hattanaAAlama almujahideena minkum wassabireenawanabluwa akhbarakum

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

And verily We shall try you till We know those of you who strive hard (for the cause of Allah) and the steadfast, and till We test your record.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

And We shall try you until We test those among you who strive their utmost and persevere in patience; and We shall try your reported (mettle).

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

"ولنبلونكم" أي لنختبرنكم بالأوامر والنواهي "حتى نعلم المجاهدين منكم والصابرين ونبلو أخباركم" وليس في تقدم علم الله تعالى بما هو كائن أنه سيكون شك ولا ريب فالمراد حتى نعلم وقوعه ولهذا يقول ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما في مثل هذا إلا لنعلم أي لنرى.
