Quran 48:23

Surah Al-Fath, Verse 23

سُنَّةَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّتِى قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلُ وَلَن تَجِدَ لِسُنَّةِ ٱللَّهِ تَبْدِيلًا

Word by word

سُنَّةَ sunnata (The established) way ٱللَّهِ l-lahi (of) Allah ٱلَّتِى allatī which قَدْ qad passed away خَلَتْ khalat passed away مِن min before قَبْلُ ۖ qablu before وَلَن walan and never تَجِدَ tajida you will find لِسُنَّةِ lisunnati in (the) way of Allah ٱللَّهِ l-lahi in (the) way of Allah تَبْدِيلًۭا tabdīlan any change

Transliteration

Sunnata Allahi allatee qad khalat minqablu walan tajida lisunnati Allahi tabdeela

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

It is the law of Allah which hath taken course aforetime. Thou wilt not find for the law of Allah aught of power to change.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

(Such has been) the practice (approved) of Allah already in the past: no change wilt thou find in the practice (approved) of Allah.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

ثم قال : ( سنة الله التي قد خلت من قبل ولن تجد لسنة الله تبديلا ) أي : هذه سنة الله وعادته في خلقه ، ما تقابل الكفر والإيمان في موطن فيصل إلى نصر الله الإيمان على الكفر ، فرفع الحق ووضع الباطل ، كما فعل تعالى يوم بدر بأوليائه المؤمنين نصرهم على أعدائه من المشركين ، مع قلة عدد المسلمين وعددهم ، وكثرة المشركين وعددهم .
