Quran 50:12

Surah Qaaf, Verse 12

كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ وَأَصْحَٰبُ ٱلرَّسِّ وَثَمُودُ

Word by word

كَذَّبَتْ kadhabat Denied قَبْلَهُمْ qablahum before them قَوْمُ qawmu (the) people نُوحٍۢ nūḥin (of) Nuh وَأَصْحَـٰبُ wa-aṣḥābu and (the) companions ٱلرَّسِّ l-rasi (of) Ar-Raas وَثَمُودُ wathamūdu and Thamud

Transliteration

Kaththabat qablahum qawmu noohinwaas-habu arrassi wathamood

The folk of Noah denied (the truth) before them, and (so did) the dwellers at Ar-Rass and (the tribe of) Thamud,

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

يقول تعالى متهددا لكفار قريش بما أحله بأشباههم ونظرائهم وأمثالهم من المكذبين قبلهم ، من النقمات والعذاب الأليم في الدنيا ، كقوم نوح وما عذبهم الله به من الغرق العام لجميع أهل الأرض ، وأصحاب الرس وقد تقدمت قصتهم في سورة " الفرقان " ( وثمود وعاد وفرعون وإخوان لوط ) ، وهم أمته الذين بعث إليهم من أهل سدوم ومعاملتها من الغور ، وكيف خسف الله بهم الأرض ، وأحال أرضهم بحيرة منتنة خبيثة ; بكفرهم وطغيانهم ومخالفتهم الحق .
