Surah Adh-Dhaariyat, Verse 41

وَفِى عَادٍ إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلرِّيحَ ٱلْعَقِيمَ
Word by word
وَفِى wafī And in عَادٍ ʿādin Aad إِذْ idh when أَرْسَلْنَا arsalnā We sent عَلَيْهِمُ ʿalayhimu against them ٱلرِّيحَ l-rīḥa the wind ٱلْعَقِيمَ l-ʿaqīma the barren
Transliteration
Wafee AAadin ith arsalnaAAalayhimu arreeha alAAaqeem

And in (the tribe of) A'ad (there is a portent) when we sent the fatal wind against them.

And in the 'Ad (people) (was another Sign): Behold, We sent against them the devastating Wind:
تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir
ثم قال : ( وفي عاد إذ أرسلنا عليهم الريح العقيم ) أي : المفسدة التي لا تنتج شيئا . قاله الضحاك ، وقتادة ، وغيرهما .
