Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 36

وَلَقَدْ أَنذَرَهُم بَطْشَتَنَا فَتَمَارَوْا۟ بِٱلنُّذُرِ
Word by word
وَلَقَدْ walaqad And certainly أَنذَرَهُم andharahum he warned them بَطْشَتَنَا baṭshatanā (of) Our seizure فَتَمَارَوْا۟ fatamāraw but they disputed بِٱلنُّذُرِ bil-nudhuri the warnings
Transliteration
Walaqad antharahum batshatanafatamaraw binnuthur
Translations

And he indeed had warned them of Our blow, but they did doubt the warnings.

And (Lut) did warn them of Our Punishment, but they disputed about the Warning.
تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir
أي : ولقد كان قبل حلول العذاب بهم قد أنذرهم بأس الله وعذابه ، فما التفتوا إلى ذلك ، ولا أصغوا إليه ، بل شكوا فيه وتماروا به ،
