Quran 54:8
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 8

مُّهْطِعِينَ إِلَى ٱلدَّاعِ يَقُولُ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ هَٰذَا يَوْمٌ عَسِرٌ
Word by word
مُّهْطِعِينَ muh'ṭiʿīna Racing ahead إِلَى ilā towards ٱلدَّاعِ ۖ l-dāʿi the caller يَقُولُ yaqūlu Will say ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ l-kāfirūna the disbelievers هَـٰذَا hādhā This يَوْمٌ yawmun (is) a Day عَسِرٌۭ ʿasirun difficult
Transliteration
MuhtiAAeena ila addaAAiyaqoolu alkafiroona hatha yawmun AAasir
Translations
Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall
Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day.
Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali
Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say.
تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir
( مهطعين ) أي : مسرعين ( إلى الداعي ) ، لا يخالفون ولا يتأخرون ، ( يقول الكافرون هذا يوم عسر ) أي : يوم شديد الهول عبوس قمطرير ( فذلك يومئذ يوم عسير على الكافرين غير يسير ) [ المدثر : 9 ، 10 ] .
