Quran 59:15

Surah Al-Hashr, Verse 15

كَمَثَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ قَرِيبًا ذَاقُوا۟ وَبَالَ أَمْرِهِمْ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

Word by word

كَمَثَلِ kamathali Like (the) example ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna (of) those مِن min from قَبْلِهِمْ qablihim before them قَرِيبًۭا ۖ qarīban shortly ذَاقُوا۟ dhāqū they tasted وَبَالَ wabāla (the) evil result أَمْرِهِمْ amrihim (of) their affair وَلَهُمْ walahum and for them عَذَابٌ ʿadhābun (is) a punishment أَلِيمٌۭ alīmun painful

Transliteration

Kamathali allatheena min qablihimqareeban thaqoo wabala amrihim walahum AAathabunaleem

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

On the likeness of those (who suffered) a short time before them, they taste the ill-effects of their own conduct, and theirs is painful punishment.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

Like those who lately preceded them, they have tasted the evil result of their conduct; and (in the Hereafter there is) for them a grievous Penalty;-

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

ثم قال : ( كمثل الذين من قبلهم قريبا ذاقوا وبال أمرهم ولهم عذاب أليم ) قال مجاهد ، والسدي ، ومقاتل بن حيان : يعني كمثل ما أصاب كفار قريش يوم بدر .

وقال ابن عباس : ( كمثل الذين من قبلهم ) يعني : يهود بني قينقاع . وكذا قال قتادة ، ومحمد بن إسحاق .

وهذا القول أشبه بالصواب ، فإن يهود بني قينقاع كان رسول الله - صلى الله عليه وسلم - قد أجلاهم قبل هذا .
