Quran 6:150

Surah Al-An'aam, Verse 150

قُلْ هَلُمَّ شُهَدَآءَكُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَشْهَدُونَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ حَرَّمَ هَٰذَا فَإِن شَهِدُوا۟ فَلَا تَشْهَدْ مَعَهُمْ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَآءَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا وَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَهُم بِرَبِّهِمْ يَعْدِلُونَ

Word by word

قُلْ qul Say هَلُمَّ halumma Bring forward شُهَدَآءَكُمُ shuhadāakumu your witnesses ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna those who يَشْهَدُونَ yashhadūna testify أَنَّ anna that ٱللَّهَ l-laha Allah حَرَّمَ ḥarrama prohibited هَـٰذَا ۖ hādhā this فَإِن fa-in Then if شَهِدُوا۟ shahidū they testify فَلَا falā then (do) not تَشْهَدْ tashhad testify مَعَهُمْ ۚ maʿahum with them وَلَا walā And (do) not تَتَّبِعْ tattabiʿ follow أَهْوَآءَ ahwāa (the) desires ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna (of) those who كَذَّبُوا۟ kadhabū denied بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا biāyātinā Our Signs وَٱلَّذِينَ wa-alladhīna and those who لَا lā (do) not يُؤْمِنُونَ yu'minūna believe بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ bil-ākhirati in the Hereafter وَهُم wahum while they بِرَبِّهِمْ birabbihim with their Lord يَعْدِلُونَ yaʿdilūna set up equals

Transliteration

Qul halumma shuhadaakumu allatheenayashhadoona anna Allaha harrama hatha fa-inshahidoo fala tashhad maAAahum wala tattabiAA ahwaaallatheena kaththaboo bi-ayatinawallatheena la yu/minoona bil-akhiratiwahum birabbihim yaAAdiloon

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

Say: Come, bring your witnesses who can bear witness that Allah forbade (all) this. And if they bear witness, do not thou bear witness with them. Follow thou not the whims of those who deny Our revelations, those who believe not in the Hereafter and deem (others) equal with their Lord.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

Say: "Bring forward your witnesses to prove that Allah did forbid so and so." If they bring such witnesses, be not thou amongst them: Nor follow thou the vain desires of such as treat our signs as falsehoods, and such as believe not in the Hereafter: for they hold others as equal with their Guardian-Lord.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وقوله تعالى : ( قل هلم شهداءكم ) أي : أحضروا شهداءكم ( الذين يشهدون أن الله حرم هذا ) أي : هذا الذي حرمتموه وكذبتم وافتريتم على الله فيه ، ( فإن شهدوا فلا تشهد معهم ) أي : لأنهم إنما يشهدون والحالة هذه كذبا وزورا ، ( ولا تتبع أهواء الذين كذبوا بآياتنا والذين لا يؤمنون بالآخرة وهم بربهم يعدلون ) أي : يشركون به ، ويجعلون له عديلا .
