Quran 6:19

Surah Al-An'aam, Verse 19

قُلْ أَىُّ شَىْءٍ أَكْبَرُ شَهَٰدَةً قُلِ ٱللَّهُ شَهِيدٌۢ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَكُمْ وَأُوحِىَ إِلَىَّ هَٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانُ لِأُنذِرَكُم بِهِۦ وَمَنۢ بَلَغَ أَئِنَّكُمْ لَتَشْهَدُونَ أَنَّ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ ءَالِهَةً أُخْرَىٰ قُل لَّآ أَشْهَدُ قُلْ إِنَّمَا هُوَ إِلَٰهٌ وَٰحِدٌ وَإِنَّنِى بَرِىٓءٌ مِّمَّا تُشْرِكُونَ

Word by word

قُلْ qul Say أَىُّ ayyu What شَىْءٍ shayin thing أَكْبَرُ akbaru (is) greatest شَهَـٰدَةًۭ ۖ shahādatan (as) a testimony قُلِ quli Say ٱللَّهُ ۖ l-lahu Allah شَهِيدٌۢ shahīdun (is) Witness بَيْنِى baynī between me وَبَيْنَكُمْ ۚ wabaynakum and between you وَأُوحِىَ waūḥiya and has been revealed إِلَىَّ ilayya to me هَـٰذَا hādhā this ٱلْقُرْءَانُ l-qur'ānu [the] Quran لِأُنذِرَكُم li-undhirakum that I may warn you بِهِۦ bihi with it وَمَنۢ waman and whoever بَلَغَ ۚ balagha it reaches أَئِنَّكُمْ a-innakum Do you truly لَتَشْهَدُونَ latashhadūna testify أَنَّ anna that مَعَ maʿa with ٱللَّهِ l-lahi Allah ءَالِهَةً ālihatan (there are) gods أُخْرَىٰ ۚ ukh'rā other قُل qul Say لَّآ lā Not أَشْهَدُ ۚ ashhadu (do) I testify قُلْ qul Say إِنَّمَا innamā Only هُوَ huwa He إِلَـٰهٌۭ ilāhun (is) God وَٰحِدٌۭ wāḥidun One وَإِنَّنِى wa-innanī and indeed, I am بَرِىٓءٌۭ barīon free مِّمَّا mimmā of what تُشْرِكُونَ tush'rikūna you associate (with Him)

Transliteration

Qul ayyu shay-in akbaru shahadatanquli Allahu shaheedun baynee wabaynakum waoohiyailayya hatha alqur-anu li-onthirakum bihiwaman balagha a-innakum latashhadoona anna maAAa Allahi alihatanokhra qul la ashhadu qul innama huwa ilahunwahidun wa-innanee baree-on mimma tushrikoon

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

Say (O Muhammad): What thing is of most weight in testimony? Say: Allah is Witness between me and you. And this Qur'an hath been inspired in me, that I may warn therewith you and whomsoever it may reach. Do ye in sooth bear witness that there are gods beside Allah? Say: I bear no such witness. Say: He is only One Allah. Lo! I am innocent of that which ye associate (with Him).

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

Say: "What thing is most weighty in evidence?" Say: "Allah is witness between me and you; This Qur'an hath been revealed to me by inspiration, that I may warn you and all whom it reaches. Can ye possibly bear witness that besides Allah there is another Allah?" Say: "Nay! I cannot bear witness!" Say: "But in truth He is the one Allah, and I truly am innocent of (your blasphemy of) joining others with Him."

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

م قال : ( قل أي شيء أكبر شهادة ) أي : من أعظم الأشياء [ شهادة ] ( قل الله شهيد بيني وبينكم ) أي : هو العالم بما جئتكم به ، وما أنتم قائلون لي : ( وأوحي إلي هذا القرآن لأنذركم به ومن بلغ ) أي : وهو نذير لكل من بلغه ، كما قال تعالى : ( ومن يكفر به من الأحزاب فالنار موعده ) [ هود : 17 ] .

قال ابن أبي حاتم : حدثنا أبو سعيد الأشج ، حدثنا وكيع وأبو أسامة وأبو خالد ، عن موسى بن عبيدة ، عن محمد بن كعب في قوله : ( ومن بلغ ) [ قال ] من بلغه القرآن فكأنما رأى النبي - صلى الله عليه وسلم - - زاد أبو خالد : وكلمه .

ورواه ابن جرير من طريق أبي معشر ، عن محمد بن كعب قال : من بلغه القرآن فقد أبلغه محمد - صلى الله عليه وسلم - .

وقال عبد الرزاق ، عن معمر ، عن قتادة في قوله : ( لأنذركم به ومن بلغ ) إن رسول الله - صلى الله عليه وسلم - ، قال : " بلغوا عن الله ، فمن بلغته آية من كتاب الله فقد بلغه أمر الله " .

وقال الربيع بن أنس : حق على من اتبع رسول الله - صلى الله عليه وسلم - أن يدعو كالذي دعا رسول الله - صلى الله عليه وسلم - ، وأن ينذر كالذي أنذر .

وقوله : ( أئنكم لتشهدون ) [ أي ] أيها المشركون ( أن مع الله آلهة أخرى قل لا أشهد ) كما قال تعالى : ( فإن شهدوا فلا تشهد معهم ) [ الأنعام : 150 ] ( قل إنما هو إله واحد وإنني بريء مما تشركون )
