Quran 6:30

Surah Al-An'aam, Verse 30

وَلَوْ تَرَىٰٓ إِذْ وُقِفُوا۟ عَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ قَالَ أَلَيْسَ هَٰذَا بِٱلْحَقِّ قَالُوا۟ بَلَىٰ وَرَبِّنَا قَالَ فَذُوقُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَ

Word by word

وَلَوْ walaw And if تَرَىٰٓ tarā you (could) see إِذْ idh when وُقِفُوا۟ wuqifū they will be made to stand عَلَىٰ ʿalā before رَبِّهِمْ ۚ rabbihim their Lord قَالَ qāla He (will) say أَلَيْسَ alaysa Is not هَـٰذَا hādhā this بِٱلْحَقِّ ۚ bil-ḥaqi the truth قَالُوا۟ qālū They will say بَلَىٰ balā Yes وَرَبِّنَا ۚ warabbinā by our Lord قَالَ qāla He (will) say فَذُوقُوا۟ fadhūqū So taste ٱلْعَذَابَ l-ʿadhāba the punishment بِمَا bimā because كُنتُمْ kuntum you used to تَكْفُرُونَ takfurūna disbelieve

Transliteration

Walaw tara ith wuqifoo AAalarabbihim qala alaysa hatha bilhaqqiqaloo bala warabbina qala fathooqooalAAathaba bima kuntum takfuroon

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

If thou couldst see when they are set before their Lord! He will say: Is not this real? They will say: Yea, verily, by our Lord! He will say: Taste now the retribution for that ye used to disbelieve.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

If thou couldst but see when they are confronted with their Lord! He will say: "Is not this the truth?" They will say: "Yea, by our Lord!" He will say: "Taste ye then the penalty, because ye rejected Faith."

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

ثم قال ( ولو ترى إذ وقفوا على ربهم ) أي : أوقفوا بين يديه قال : ( أليس هذا بالحق ) أي : أليس هذا المعاد بحق وليس بباطل كما كنتم تظنون؟ ( قالوا بلى وربنا قال فذوقوا العذاب بما كنتم تكفرون ) أي : بما كنتم تكذبون به ، فذوقوا اليوم مسه ( أفسحر هذا أم أنتم لا تبصرون ) [ الطور : 15 ]
