Quran 6:92

Surah Al-An'aam, Verse 92

وَهَٰذَا كِتَٰبٌ أَنزَلْنَٰهُ مُبَارَكٌ مُّصَدِّقُ ٱلَّذِى بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَلِتُنذِرَ أُمَّ ٱلْقُرَىٰ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهَا وَٱلَّذِينَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِۦ وَهُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ

Word by word

وَهَـٰذَا wahādhā And this كِتَـٰبٌ kitābun (is) a Book أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ anzalnāhu We have revealed it مُبَارَكٌۭ mubārakun blessed مُّصَدِّقُ muṣaddiqu confirming ٱلَّذِى alladhī which بَيْنَ bayna (came) before يَدَيْهِ yadayhi its hands وَلِتُنذِرَ walitundhira so that you may warn أُمَّ umma (the) mother ٱلْقُرَىٰ l-qurā (of) the cities وَمَنْ waman and who حَوْلَهَا ۚ ḥawlahā (are) around it وَٱلَّذِينَ wa-alladhīna And those who يُؤْمِنُونَ yu'minūna believe بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ bil-ākhirati in the Hereafter يُؤْمِنُونَ yu'minūna they believe بِهِۦ ۖ bihi in it وَهُمْ wahum and they عَلَىٰ ʿalā over صَلَاتِهِمْ ṣalātihim their prayers يُحَافِظُونَ yuḥāfiẓūna (are) guarding

Transliteration

Wahatha kitabun anzalnahumubarakun musaddiqu allathee bayna yadayhiwalitunthira omma alqura waman hawlahawallatheena yu/minoona bil-akhiratiyu/minoona bihi wahum AAala salatihim yuhafithoon

Translations

And this is a blessed Scripture which We have revealed, confirming that which (was revealed) before it, that thou mayst warn the Mother of Villages and those around her. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe herein, and they are careful of their worship.

And this is a Book which We have sent down, bringing blessings, and confirming (the revelations) which came before it: that thou mayest warn the mother of cities and all around her. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe in this (Book), and they are constant in guarding their prayers.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وقوله : ( وهذا كتاب ) يعني : القرآن ( أنزلناه مبارك مصدق الذي بين يديه ولتنذر أم القرى ) يعني : مكة ( ومن حولها ) من أحياء العرب ، ومن سائر طوائف بني آدم من عرب وعجم ، كما قال في الآية الأخرى : ( قل يا أيها الناس إني رسول الله إليكم جميعا ) [ الأعراف : 158 ] ، وقال ( لأنذركم به ومن بلغ ) [ الأنعام : 19 ] ، وقال ( ومن يكفر به من الأحزاب فالنار موعده ) [ هود : 17 ] ، وقال ( تبارك الذي نزل الفرقان على عبده ليكون للعالمين نذيرا ) [ الفرقان : 1 ] ، وقال ( وقل للذين أوتوا الكتاب والأميين أأسلمتم فإن أسلموا فقد اهتدوا وإن تولوا فإنما عليك البلاغ والله بصير بالعباد ) [ آل عمران : 20 ] ، وثبت في الصحيحين أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال : " أعطيت خمسا لم يعطهن أحد من الأنبياء قبلي " وذكر منهن : " وكان النبي يبعث إلى قومه ، وبعثت إلى الناس عامة " ; ولهذا قال : ( والذين يؤمنون بالآخرة يؤمنون به ) أي : كل من آمن بالله واليوم الآخر آمن بهذا الكتاب المبارك الذي أنزلناه إليك يا محمد ، وهو القرآن ، ( وهم على صلاتهم يحافظون ) أي : يقومون بما افترض عليهم ، من أداء الصلوات في أوقاتها .
