Quran 63:9

Surah Al-Munaafiqoon, Verse 9

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تُلْهِكُمْ أَمْوَٰلُكُمْ وَلَآ أَوْلَٰدُكُمْ عَن ذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ وَمَن يَفْعَلْ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْخَٰسِرُونَ

Word by word

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا yāayyuhā O ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna you (who) ءَامَنُوا۟ āmanū believe لَا lā (Let) not تُلْهِكُمْ tul'hikum divert you أَمْوَٰلُكُمْ amwālukum your wealth وَلَآ walā and not أَوْلَـٰدُكُمْ awlādukum your children عَن ʿan from ذِكْرِ dhik'ri (the) remembrance ٱللَّهِ ۚ l-lahi (of) Allah وَمَن waman And whoever يَفْعَلْ yafʿal does ذَٰلِكَ dhālika that فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ fa-ulāika then those هُمُ humu [they] ٱلْخَـٰسِرُونَ l-khāsirūna (are) the losers

Transliteration

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoola tulhikum amwalukum wala awladukumAAan thikri Allahi waman yafAAal thalikafaola-ika humu alkhasiroon

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

O ye who believe! Let not your wealth nor your children distract you from remembrance of Allah. Those who do so, they are the losers.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

O ye who believe! Let not your riches or your children divert you from the remembrance of Allah. If any act thus, the loss is their own.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

يقول تعالى آمرا لعباده المؤمنين بكثرة ذكره وناهيا لهم عن أن تشغلهم الأموال ، والأولاد عن ذلك ، ومخبرا لهم بأنه من التهى بمتاع الحياة الدنيا وزينتها عما خلق له من طاعة ربه وذكره ، فإنه من الخاسرين الذين يخسرون أنفسهم ، وأهليهم يوم القيامة
