Quran 7:92

Surah Al-A'raaf, Verse 92

ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ شُعَيْبًا كَأَن لَّمْ يَغْنَوْا۟ فِيهَا ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ شُعَيْبًا كَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ

Word by word

ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna Those who كَذَّبُوا۟ kadhabū denied شُعَيْبًۭا shuʿayban Shuaib كَأَن ka-an (became) as if لَّمْ lam not يَغْنَوْا۟ yaghnaw they (had) lived فِيهَا ۚ fīhā therein ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna Those who كَذَّبُوا۟ kadhabū denied شُعَيْبًۭا shuʿayban Shuaib كَانُوا۟ kānū they were هُمُ humu them ٱلْخَـٰسِرِينَ l-khāsirīna the losers

Transliteration

Allatheena kaththabooshuAAayban kaan lam yaghnaw feeha allatheena kaththabooshuAAayban kanoo humu alkhasireen

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

Those who denied Shu'eyb became as though they had not dwelt there. Those who denied Shu'eyb, they were the losers.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

The men who reject Shu'aib became as if they had never been in the homes where they had flourished: the men who rejected Shu'aib - it was they who were ruined!

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

ثم قال تعالى : ( كأن لم يغنوا فيها ) أي : كأنهم لما أصابتهم النقمة لم يقيموا بديارهم التي أرادوا إجلاء الرسول وصحبه منها .

ثم قال مقابلا لقيلهم : ( الذين كذبوا شعيبا كانوا هم الخاسرين )
