Surah Al-A'raaf, Verse 99

أَفَأَمِنُوا۟ مَكْرَ ٱللَّهِ فَلَا يَأْمَنُ مَكْرَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَّا ٱلْقَوْمُ ٱلْخَٰسِرُونَ
Word by word
أَفَأَمِنُوا۟ afa-aminū Then did they feel secure مَكْرَ makra (from the) plan ٱللَّهِ ۚ l-lahi (of) Allah فَلَا falā But not يَأْمَنُ yamanu feel secure مَكْرَ makra (from the) plan ٱللَّهِ l-lahi (of) Allah إِلَّا illā except ٱلْقَوْمُ l-qawmu the people ٱلْخَـٰسِرُونَ l-khāsirūna (who are) the losers
Transliteration
Afaaminoo makra Allahi falaya/manu makra Allahi illa alqawmu alkhasiroon
Translations
Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall
Are they then secure from Allah's scheme? None deemeth himself secure from Allah's scheme save folk that perish.
Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali
Did they then feel secure against the plan of Allah?- but no one can feel secure from the Plan of Allah, except those (doomed) to ruin!
تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir
( فلا يأمن مكر الله إلا القوم الخاسرون ) ; ولهذا قال الحسن البصري ، رحمه الله : المؤمن يعمل بالطاعات وهو مشفق وجل خائف ، والفاجر يعمل بالمعاصي وهو آمن .
