Quran 78:37

Surah An-Naba, Verse 37

رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًا

Word by word

رَّبِّ rabbi Lord ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ l-samāwāti (of) the heavens وَٱلْأَرْضِ wal-arḍi and the earth وَمَا wamā and whatever بَيْنَهُمَا baynahumā (is) between both of them ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ۖ l-raḥmāni the Most Gracious لَا lā not يَمْلِكُونَ yamlikūna they have power مِنْهُ min'hu from Him خِطَابًۭا khiṭāban (to) address

Transliteration

Rabbi assamawati wal-ardiwama baynahuma arrahmani layamlikoona minhu khitaba

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

Lord of the heavens and the earth, and (all) that is between them, the Beneficent; with Whom none can converse.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

(From) the Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all between, (Allah) Most Gracious: None shall have power to argue with Him.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

يخبر تعالى عن عظمته وجلاله ، وأنه رب السموات والأرض وما فيهما وما بينهما ، وأنه الرحمن الذي شملت رحمته كل شيء .

وقوله : ( لا يملكون منه خطابا ) أي : لا يقدر أحد على ابتداء مخاطبته إلا بإذنه ، كقوله : ( من ذا الذي يشفع عنده إلا بإذنه ) [ البقرة : 255 ] ، وكقوله : ( يوم يأت لا تكلم نفس إلا بإذنه ) [ هود : 105 ]
