Quran 79:40
Surah An-Naazi'aat, Verse 40

وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ وَنَهَى ٱلنَّفْسَ عَنِ ٱلْهَوَىٰ
Word by word
وَأَمَّا wa-ammā But as for مَنْ man (him) who خَافَ khāfa feared مَقَامَ maqāma standing رَبِّهِۦ rabbihi (before) his Lord وَنَهَى wanahā and restrained ٱلنَّفْسَ l-nafsa his soul عَنِ ʿani from ٱلْهَوَىٰ l-hawā the vain desires
Transliteration
Waama man khafa maqamarabbihi wanaha annafsa AAani alhawa

But as for him who feared to stand before his Lord and restrained his soul from lust,
Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali
And for such as had entertained the fear of standing before their Lord's (tribunal) and had restrained (their) soul from lower desires,
تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir
أي خاف القيام بين يدي الله عز وجل وخاف حكم الله فيه ونهى نفسه عن هواها وردها إلى طاعة مولاها.
