Quran 86:17
Surah At-Taariq, Verse 17

فَمَهِّلِ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ أَمْهِلْهُمْ رُوَيْدًۢا
Word by word
فَمَهِّلِ famahhili So give respite ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ l-kāfirīna (to) the disbelievers أَمْهِلْهُمْ amhil'hum Give respite to them رُوَيْدًۢا ruwaydan little
Transliteration
Famahhili alkafireena amhilhum ruwayda
Translations
Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall
So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while.
Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali
Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile).
تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir
ثم قال : ( فمهل الكافرين ) أي : أنظرهم ولا تستعجل لهم ، ( أمهلهم رويدا ) أي : قليلا . أي : وترى ماذا أحل بهم من العذاب والنكال والعقوبة والهلاك ، كما قال : ( نمتعهم قليلا ثم نضطرهم إلى عذاب غليظ ) [ لقمان : 24 ] .
