Quran 9:14

Surah At-Tawba, Verse 14

قَٰتِلُوهُمْ يُعَذِّبْهُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِأَيْدِيكُمْ وَيُخْزِهِمْ وَيَنصُرْكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَيَشْفِ صُدُورَ قَوْمٍ مُّؤْمِنِينَ

Word by word

قَـٰتِلُوهُمْ qātilūhum Fight them يُعَذِّبْهُمُ yuʿadhib'humu Allah will punish them ٱللَّهُ l-lahu Allah will punish them بِأَيْدِيكُمْ bi-aydīkum by your hands وَيُخْزِهِمْ wayukh'zihim and disgrace them وَيَنصُرْكُمْ wayanṣur'kum and give you victory عَلَيْهِمْ ʿalayhim over them وَيَشْفِ wayashfi and will heal صُدُورَ ṣudūra (the) breasts قَوْمٍۢ qawmin (of) a people مُّؤْمِنِينَ mu'minīna (who are) believers

Transliteration

Qatiloohum yuAAaththibhumu Allahubi-aydeekum wayukhzihim wayansurkum AAalayhim wayashfi sudooraqawmin mu/mineen

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

Fight them! Allah will chastise them at your hands, and He will lay them low and give you victory over them, and He will heal the breasts of folk who are believers.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

Fight them, and Allah will punish them by your hands, cover them with shame, help you (to victory) over them, heal the breasts of Believers,

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

ثم قال تعالى عزيمة على المؤمنين ، وبيانا لحكمته فيما شرع لهم من الجهاد مع قدرته على إهلاك الأعداء بأمر من عنده : ( قاتلوهم يعذبهم الله بأيديكم ويخزهم وينصركم عليهم ويشف صدور قوم مؤمنين ) وهذا عام في المؤمنين كلهم .

وقال مجاهد ، وعكرمة ، والسدي في هذه الآية : ( ويشف صدور قوم مؤمنين ) يعني : خزاعة .
