Quran 9:63

Surah At-Tawba, Verse 63

أَلَمْ يَعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّهُۥ مَن يُحَادِدِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ فَأَنَّ لَهُۥ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدًا فِيهَا ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْخِزْىُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ

Word by word

أَلَمْ alam Do not يَعْلَمُوٓا۟ yaʿlamū they know أَنَّهُۥ annahu that he مَن man who يُحَادِدِ yuḥādidi opposes ٱللَّهَ l-laha Allah وَرَسُولَهُۥ warasūlahu and His Messenger فَأَنَّ fa-anna [then] that لَهُۥ lahu for him نَارَ nāra (is the) Fire جَهَنَّمَ jahannama (of) Hell خَـٰلِدًۭا khālidan (will) abide forever فِيهَا ۚ fīhā in it ذَٰلِكَ dhālika That ٱلْخِزْىُ l-khiz'yu (is) the disgrace ٱلْعَظِيمُ l-ʿaẓīmu the great

Transliteration

Alam yaAAlamoo annahu man yuhadidiAllaha warasoolahu faanna lahu nara jahannama khalidanfeeha thalika alkhizyu alAAatheem

Translations

Know they not that whoso opposeth Allah and His messenger, his verily is fire of hell, to abide therein? That is the extreme abasement.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

Know they not that for those who oppose Allah and His Messenger, is the Fire of Hell?- wherein they shall dwell. That is the supreme disgrace.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وقوله تعالى : ( ألم يعلموا أنه من يحادد الله ورسوله فأن له نار جهنم خالدا فيها ) أي : ألم يتحققوا ويعلموا أنه من حاد الله ، أي : شاقه وحاربه وخالفه ، وكان في حد والله ورسوله في حد ( فأن له نار جهنم خالدا فيها ) أي : مهانا معذبا ، ( ذلك الخزي العظيم ) أي : وهذا هو الذل العظيم ، والشقاء الكبير .
