Quran 10:106

Surah Yunus, Verse 106

وَلَا تَدْعُ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا يَنفَعُكَ وَلَا يَضُرُّكَ فَإِن فَعَلْتَ فَإِنَّكَ إِذًا مِّنَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ

Word by word

وَلَا walā And (do) not تَدْعُ tadʿu invoke مِن min besides Allah دُونِ dūni besides Allah ٱللَّهِ l-lahi besides Allah مَا mā what لَا lā (will) not يَنفَعُكَ yanfaʿuka benefit you وَلَا walā and not يَضُرُّكَ ۖ yaḍurruka harm you فَإِن fa-in But if فَعَلْتَ faʿalta you did so فَإِنَّكَ fa-innaka indeed, you إِذًۭا idhan then (will be) مِّنَ mina of ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ l-ẓālimīna the wrongdoers

Transliteration

Wala tadAAu min dooni Allahima la yanfaAAuka wala yadurruka fa-infaAAalta fa-innaka ithan mina aththalimeen

Translations

And cry not, beside Allah, unto that which cannot profit thee nor hurt thee, for if thou didst so then wert thou of the wrong-doers.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

"'Nor call on any, other than Allah;- Such will neither profit thee nor hurt thee: if thou dost, behold! thou shalt certainly be of those who do wrong.'"

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وَلَا تَدْعُ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ مَا لَا يَنفَعُكَ وَلَا يَضُرُّكَ ۖ فَإِن فَعَلْتَ فَإِنَّكَ إِذًا مِّنَ الظَّالِمِينَ
