Quran 10:107

Surah Yunus, Verse 107

وَإِن يَمْسَسْكَ ٱللَّهُ بِضُرٍّ فَلَا كَاشِفَ لَهُۥٓ إِلَّا هُوَ وَإِن يُرِدْكَ بِخَيْرٍ فَلَا رَآدَّ لِفَضْلِهِۦ يُصِيبُ بِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦ وَهُوَ ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

Word by word

وَإِن wa-in And if يَمْسَسْكَ yamsaska Allah touches you ٱللَّهُ l-lahu Allah touches you بِضُرٍّۢ biḍurrin with adversity فَلَا falā (there is) no كَاشِفَ kāshifa remover لَهُۥٓ lahu of it إِلَّا illā except هُوَ ۖ huwa Him وَإِن wa-in and if يُرِدْكَ yurid'ka He intends for you بِخَيْرٍۢ bikhayrin any good فَلَا falā then (there is) no رَآدَّ rādda repeller لِفَضْلِهِۦ ۚ lifaḍlihi (of) His Bounty يُصِيبُ yuṣību He causes it to reach بِهِۦ bihi He causes it to reach مَن man whom يَشَآءُ yashāu He wills مِنْ min of عِبَادِهِۦ ۚ ʿibādihi His slaves وَهُوَ wahuwa And He ٱلْغَفُورُ l-ghafūru (is) the Oft-Forgiving ٱلرَّحِيمُ l-raḥīmu the Most Merciful

Transliteration

Wa-in yamsaska Allahu bidurrinfala kashifa lahu illa huwa wa-in yuridkabikhayrin fala radda lifadlihi yuseebubihi man yashao min AAibadihi wahuwa alghafooru arraheem

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

If Allah afflicteth thee with some hurt, there is none who can remove it save Him; and if He desireth good for thee, there is none who can repel His bounty. He striketh with it whom He will of his bondmen. He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

If Allah do touch thee with hurt, there is none can remove it but He: if He do design some benefit for thee, there is none can keep back His favour: He causeth it to reach whomsoever of His servants He pleaseth. And He is the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وقوله : ( وإن يمسسك الله بضر ) إلى آخرها ، بيان لأن الخير والشر والنفع والضر إنما هو راجع إلى الله تعالى وحده لا يشاركه في ذلك أحد ، فهو الذي يستحق العبادة وحده ، لا شريك له .

روى الحافظ ابن عساكر ، في ترجمة صفوان بن سليم ، من طريق عبد الله بن وهب : أخبرني يحيى بن أيوب عن عيسى بن موسى ، عن صفوان بن سليم ، عن أنس بن مالك ، أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال : " اطلبوا الخير دهركم كله ، وتعرضوا لنفحات رحمة الله ، فإن لله نفحات من رحمته ، يصيب بها من يشاء من عباده واسألوه أن يستر عوراتكم ، ويؤمن روعاتكم "

ثم رواه من طريق الليث ، عن عيسى بن موسى ، عن صفوان ، عن رجل من أشجع ، عن أبي هريرة مرفوعا ؛ بمثله سواء

وقوله : ( وهو الغفور الرحيم ) أي : لمن تاب إليه وتوكل عليه ، ولو من أي ذنب كان ، حتى من الشرك به ، فإنه يتوب عليه .
