Surah Hud, Verse 51

يَٰقَوْمِ لَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَى ٱلَّذِى فَطَرَنِىٓ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
Word by word
يَـٰقَوْمِ yāqawmi O my people لَآ lā Not أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ asalukum I ask you عَلَيْهِ ʿalayhi for it أَجْرًا ۖ ajran any reward إِنْ in Not أَجْرِىَ ajriya (is) my reward إِلَّا illā except عَلَى ʿalā from ٱلَّذِى alladhī the One Who فَطَرَنِىٓ ۚ faṭaranī created me أَفَلَا afalā Then will not تَعْقِلُونَ taʿqilūna you use reason
Transliteration
Ya qawmi la as-alukum AAalayhiajran in ajriya illa AAala allathee fataraneeafala taAAqiloon
Translations
Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall
O my people! I ask of you no reward for it. Lo! my reward is the concern only of Him Who made me. Have ye then no sense?
Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali
"O my people! I ask of you no reward for this (Message). My reward is from none but Him who created me: Will ye not then understand?
تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir
وأخبرهم أنه لا يريد منهم أجرة على هذا النصح والبلاغ من الله إنما يبغي ثوابه من الله الذي فطره أفلا تعقلون من يدعوكم إلي ما يصلحكم في الدنيا والآخرة من غير أجرة.
