Quran 11:98

Surah Hud, Verse 98

يَقْدُمُ قَوْمَهُۥ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ فَأَوْرَدَهُمُ ٱلنَّارَ وَبِئْسَ ٱلْوِرْدُ ٱلْمَوْرُودُ

Word by word

يَقْدُمُ yaqdumu He will precede قَوْمَهُۥ qawmahu his people يَوْمَ yawma (on the) Day ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ l-qiyāmati (of) the Resurrection فَأَوْرَدَهُمُ fa-awradahumu and lead them ٱلنَّارَ ۖ l-nāra (into) the Fire وَبِئْسَ wabi'sa And wretched ٱلْوِرْدُ l-wir'du (is) the place ٱلْمَوْرُودُ l-mawrūdu to which (they are) led

Transliteration

Yaqdumu qawmahu yawma alqiyamatifaawradahumu annara wabi/sa alwirdu almawrood

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

He will go before his people on the Day of Resurrection and will lead them to the Fire for watering-place. Ah, hapless is the watering-place (whither they are) led.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

He will go before his people on the Day of Judgment, and lead them into the Fire (as cattle are led to water): But woeful indeed will be the place to which they are led!

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وقال تعالى : ( يقدم قومه يوم القيامة فأوردهم النار وبئس الورد المورود ) وكذلك شأن المتبوعين يكونون موفرين في العذاب يوم المعاد ، كما قال تعالى : ( [ قال ] لكل ضعف ولكن لا تعلمون ) [ الأعراف : 38 ] ، وقال تعالى إخبارا عن الكفرة إنهم يقولون في النار : ( ربنا إنا أطعنا سادتنا وكبراءنا فأضلونا السبيل ربنا آتهم ضعفين من العذاب والعنهم لعنا كبيرا ) [ الأحزاب : 67 ، 68 ] .

وقال الإمام أحمد : حدثنا هشيم ، حدثنا أبو الجهم ، عن الزهري ، عن أبي سلمة ، عن أبي هريرة قال : قال رسول الله ، صلى الله عليه وسلم : " امرؤ القيس حامل لواء شعراء الجاهلية إلى النار " .
