Surah Al-Hijr, Verse 10

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ فِى شِيَعِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
Word by word
وَلَقَدْ walaqad And certainly أَرْسَلْنَا arsalnā We (had) sent مِن min before you قَبْلِكَ qablika before you فِى fī in شِيَعِ shiyaʿi the sects ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ l-awalīna (of) the former (people)
Transliteration
Walaqad arsalna min qablika feeshiyaAAi al-awwaleen
Translations

We verily sent (messengers) before thee among the factions of the men of old.

We did send messengers before thee amongst the religious sects of old:

يقول تعالى مسليا لرسوله في تكذيب من كذبه من كفار قريش : إنه أرسل من قبله في الأمم الماضية ، وإنه ما أتى أمة رسول إلا كذبوه واستهزءوا به .
