Surah Al-Hijr, Verse 52

إِذْ دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالُوا۟ سَلَٰمًا قَالَ إِنَّا مِنكُمْ وَجِلُونَ
Word by word
إِذْ idh When دَخَلُوا۟ dakhalū they entered عَلَيْهِ ʿalayhi upon him فَقَالُوا۟ faqālū and said سَلَـٰمًۭا salāman Peace قَالَ qāla He said إِنَّا innā Indeed, we مِنكُمْ minkum (are) of you وَجِلُونَ wajilūna afraid
Transliteration
Ith dakhaloo AAalayhi faqaloosalaman qala inna minkum wajiloon
Translations
Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall
(How) when they came in unto him, and said: Peace. He said: Lo! we are afraid of you.
Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali
When they entered his presence and said, "Peace!" He said, "We feel afraid of you!"
تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir
وكيف دخلوا عليه فقالوا سلاما " قال إنا منكم وجلون " أي خائفون وقد ذكر سبب خوفه منهم لما رأى أيديهم لا تصل إلى ما قربه إليهم من الضيافة وهو العجل السمين الحنيذ.
