Quran 15:65

Surah Al-Hijr, Verse 65

فَأَسْرِ بِأَهْلِكَ بِقِطْعٍ مِّنَ ٱلَّيْلِ وَٱتَّبِعْ أَدْبَٰرَهُمْ وَلَا يَلْتَفِتْ مِنكُمْ أَحَدٌ وَٱمْضُوا۟ حَيْثُ تُؤْمَرُونَ

Word by word

فَأَسْرِ fa-asri So travel بِأَهْلِكَ bi-ahlika with your family بِقِطْعٍۢ biqiṭ'ʿin in a portion مِّنَ mina of ٱلَّيْلِ al-layli the night وَٱتَّبِعْ wa-ittabiʿ and follow أَدْبَـٰرَهُمْ adbārahum their backs وَلَا walā and not يَلْتَفِتْ yaltafit let look back مِنكُمْ minkum among you أَحَدٌۭ aḥadun anyone وَٱمْضُوا۟ wa-im'ḍū and go on حَيْثُ ḥaythu where تُؤْمَرُونَ tu'marūna you are ordered

Transliteration

Faasri bi-ahlika biqitAAin minaallayli wattabiAA adbarahum wala yaltafitminkum ahadun wamdoo haythutu/maroon

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

"Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered."

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

يذكر تعالى عن الملائكة أنهم أمروه أن يسري بأهله بعد مضي جانب من الليل ، وأن يكون لوط - عليه السلام - يمشي وراءهم ، ليكون أحفظ لهم .

وهكذا كان رسول الله - صلى الله عليه وسلم - يمشي في الغزاة بما كان يكون ساقة ، يزجي الضعيف ، ويحمل المنقطع

وقوله : ( ولا يلتفت منكم أحد ) أي : إذا سمعتم الصيحة بالقوم فلا تلتفتوا إليهم ، وذروهم فيما حل بهم من العذاب والنكال ، ( وامضوا حيث تؤمرون ) كأنه كان معهم من يهديهم السبيل .
