Quran 19:79
Surah Maryam, Verse 79

كَلَّا سَنَكْتُبُ مَا يَقُولُ وَنَمُدُّ لَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ مَدًّا
Word by word
كَلَّا ۚ kallā Nay سَنَكْتُبُ sanaktubu We will record مَا mā what يَقُولُ yaqūlu he says وَنَمُدُّ wanamuddu and We will extend لَهُۥ lahu for him مِنَ mina from ٱلْعَذَابِ l-ʿadhābi the punishment مَدًّۭا maddan extensively
Transliteration
Kalla sanaktubu ma yaqooluwanamuddu lahu mina alAAathabi madda
Translations
Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall
Nay, but We shall record that which he saith and prolong for him a span of torment.
Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali
Nay! We shall record what he says, and We shall add and add to his punishment.
تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir
وقوله : ( كلا ) : هي حرف ردع لما قبلها وتأكيد لما بعدها ، ( سنكتب ما يقول ) أي : من طلبه ذلك وحكمه لنفسه بما تمناه ، وكفره بالله العظيم ( ونمد له من العذاب مدا ) أي : في الدار الآخرة ، على قوله ذلك ، وكفره بالله في الدنيا .
