Quran 21:13

Surah Al-Anbiyaa, Verse 13

لَا تَرْكُضُوا۟ وَٱرْجِعُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ مَآ أُتْرِفْتُمْ فِيهِ وَمَسَٰكِنِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُسْـَٔلُونَ

Word by word

لَا lā Flee not تَرْكُضُوا۟ tarkuḍū Flee not وَٱرْجِعُوٓا۟ wa-ir'jiʿū but return إِلَىٰ ilā to مَآ mā what أُتْرِفْتُمْ ut'rif'tum you were given luxury فِيهِ fīhi in it وَمَسَـٰكِنِكُمْ wamasākinikum and to your homes لَعَلَّكُمْ laʿallakum so that you may تُسْـَٔلُونَ tus'alūna be questioned

Transliteration

La tarkudoo warjiAAooila ma otriftum feehi wamasakinikumlaAAallakum tus-aloon

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

(But it was said unto them): Flee not, but return to that (existence) which emasculated you and to your dwellings, that ye may be questioned.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

Flee not, but return to the good things of this life which were given you, and to your homes in order that ye may be called to account.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

( لا تركضوا وارجعوا إلى ما أترفتم فيه ومساكنكم ) هذا تهكم بهم قدرا أي : قيل لهم قدرا : لا تركضوا هاربين من نزول العذاب ، وارجعوا إلى ما كنتم فيه من النعمة والسرور ، والمعيشة والمساكن الطيبة .

قال قتادة : استهزاء بهم .

( لعلكم تسألون ) أي : عما كنتم فيه من أداء شكر النعمة .
