Quran 23:28

Surah Al-Muminoon, Verse 28

فَإِذَا ٱسْتَوَيْتَ أَنتَ وَمَن مَّعَكَ عَلَى ٱلْفُلْكِ فَقُلِ ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِى نَجَّىٰنَا مِنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ

Word by word

فَإِذَا fa-idhā And when ٱسْتَوَيْتَ is'tawayta you (have) boarded أَنتَ anta you وَمَن waman and whoever مَّعَكَ maʿaka (is) with you عَلَى ʿalā [on] ٱلْفُلْكِ l-ful'ki the ship فَقُلِ faquli then say ٱلْحَمْدُ l-ḥamdu Praise لِلَّهِ lillahi (be) to Allah ٱلَّذِى alladhī Who نَجَّىٰنَا najjānā (has) saved us مِنَ mina from ٱلْقَوْمِ l-qawmi the people ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ l-ẓālimīna the wrongdoers

Transliteration

Fa-itha istawayta anta waman maAAakaAAala alfulki faquli alhamdu lillahi allatheenajjana mina alqawmi aththalimeen

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

And when thou art on board the ship, thou and whoso is with thee, then say: Praise be to Allah Who hath saved us from the wrongdoing folk!

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

And when thou hast embarked on the Ark - thou and those with thee,- say: "Praise be to Allah, Who has saved us from the people who do wrong."

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وقوله : ( فإذا استويت أنت ومن معك على الفلك فقل الحمد لله الذي نجانا من القوم الظالمين ) ، كما قال : ( وجعل لكم من الفلك والأنعام ما تركبون . لتستووا على ظهوره ثم تذكروا نعمة ربكم إذا استويتم عليه وتقولوا سبحان الذي سخر لنا هذا وما كنا له مقرنين . وإنا إلى ربنا لمنقلبون ) [ الزخرف : 12 14 ] . وقد امتثل نوح ، عليه السلام ، هذا ، كما قال تعالى : ( وقال اركبوا فيها بسم الله مجراها ومرساها ) [ هود : 41 ] . فذكر الله تعالى عند ابتداء سيره وعند انتهائه
