Quran 23:78

Surah Al-Muminoon, Verse 78

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنشَأَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَٱلْأَبْصَٰرَ وَٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةَ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَشْكُرُونَ

Word by word

وَهُوَ wahuwa And He ٱلَّذِىٓ alladhī (is) the One Who أَنشَأَ ansha-a produced لَكُمُ lakumu for you ٱلسَّمْعَ l-samʿa the hearing وَٱلْأَبْصَـٰرَ wal-abṣāra and the sight وَٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةَ ۚ wal-afidata and the feeling قَلِيلًۭا qalīlan little مَّا mā (is) what تَشْكُرُونَ tashkurūna you give thanks

Transliteration

Wahuwa allathee anshaa lakumu assamAAawal-absara wal-af-idata qaleelan matashkuroon

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

He it is Who hath created for you ears and eyes and hearts. Small thanks give ye!

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

It is He Who has created for you (the faculties of) hearing, sight, feeling and understanding: little thanks it is ye give!

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

ثم ذكر تعالى نعمته على عباده في أن جعل لهم السمع والأبصار والأفئدة ، وهي العقول والفهوم ، التي يدركون بها الأشياء ، ويعتبرون بما في الكون من الآيات الدالة على وحدانية الله تعالى ، وأنه الفاعل المختار لما يشاء .

وقوله : ( قليلا ما تشكرون ) أي : وما أقل شكركم لله على ما أنعم به عليكم ، كقوله : ( وما أكثر الناس ولو حرصت بمؤمنين ) [ يوسف : 103 ] .
