Surah Ash-Shu'araa, Verse 156

وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوٓءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ
Word by word
وَلَا walā And (do) not تَمَسُّوهَا tamassūhā touch her بِسُوٓءٍۢ bisūin with harm فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ fayakhudhakum lest seize you عَذَابُ ʿadhābu (the) punishment يَوْمٍ yawmin (of) a Day عَظِيمٍۢ ʿaẓīmin Great
Transliteration
Wala tamassooha bisoo-infaya/khuthakum AAathabu yawmin AAatheem

And touch her not with ill lest there come on you the retribution of an awful day.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir
( ولا تمسوها بسوء فيأخذكم عذاب يوم عظيم ) فحذرهم نقمة الله إن أصابوها بسوء ، فمكثت الناقة بين أظهرهم حينا من الدهر ترد الماء ، وتأكل الورق والمرعى . وينتفعون بلبنها ، يحتلبون منها ما يكفيهم شربا وريا ، فلما طال عليهم الأمد وحضر شقاؤهم ، تمالئوا على قتلها وعقرها .
