Quran 29:34

Surah Al-Ankaboot, Verse 34

إِنَّا مُنزِلُونَ عَلَىٰٓ أَهْلِ هَٰذِهِ ٱلْقَرْيَةِ رِجْزًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْسُقُونَ

Word by word

إِنَّا innā Indeed, we مُنزِلُونَ munzilūna (will) bring down عَلَىٰٓ ʿalā on أَهْلِ ahli (the) people هَـٰذِهِ hādhihi (of) this ٱلْقَرْيَةِ l-qaryati town رِجْزًۭا rij'zan a punishment مِّنَ mina from ٱلسَّمَآءِ l-samāi (the) sky بِمَا bimā because كَانُوا۟ kānū they have been يَفْسُقُونَ yafsuqūna defiantly disobedient

Transliteration

Inna munziloona AAala ahli hathihialqaryati rijzan mina assama-i bima kanooyafsuqoon

Lo! We are about to bring down upon the folk of this township a fury from the sky because they are evil-livers.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

"For we are going to bring down on the people of this township a Punishment from heaven, because they have been wickedly rebellious."

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وذلك أن جبريل عليه السلام اقتلع قراهم من قرار الأرض ، ثم رفعها إلى عنان السماء ، ثم قلبها عليهم . وأرسل الله عليهم حجارة من سجيل منضود ، مسومة عند ربك وما هي من الظالمين ببعيد ، وجعل [ الله ] مكانها بحيرة خبيثة منتنة ، وجعلهم عبرة إلى يوم التناد ، وهم من أشد الناس عذابا يوم المعاد ;
