Quran 3:116

Surah Aal-i-Imraan, Verse 116

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَن تُغْنِىَ عَنْهُمْ أَمْوَٰلُهُمْ وَلَآ أَوْلَٰدُهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيْـًٔا وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ هُمْ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَ

Word by word

إِنَّ inna Indeed ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna those who كَفَرُوا۟ kafarū disbelieved لَن lan never تُغْنِىَ tugh'niya will avail عَنْهُمْ ʿanhum [for] them أَمْوَٰلُهُمْ amwāluhum their wealth وَلَآ walā and not أَوْلَـٰدُهُم awlāduhum their children مِّنَ mina against ٱللَّهِ l-lahi Allah شَيْـًۭٔا ۖ shayan anything وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ wa-ulāika and those أَصْحَـٰبُ aṣḥābu (are the) companions ٱلنَّارِ ۚ l-nāri (of) the Fire هُمْ hum they فِيهَا fīhā in it خَـٰلِدُونَ khālidūna (will) abide forever

Transliteration

Inna allatheena kafaroo lan tughniyaAAanhum amwaluhum wala awladuhum mina Allahishay-an waola-ika as-habu annarihum feeha khalidoon

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

Lo! the riches and the progeny of those who disbelieve will not avail them aught against Allah; and such are rightful owners of the Fire. They will abide therein.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

Those who reject Faith,- neither their possessions nor their (numerous) progeny will avail them aught against Allah: They will be companions of the Fire,-dwelling therein (for ever).

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

ثم قال تعالى مخبرا عن الكفرة المشركين بأنه ( لن تغني عنهم أموالهم ولا أولادهم من الله شيئا ) أي لا يرد عنهم بأس الله ولا عذابه إذا أراده بهم ( وأولئك أصحاب النار هم فيها خالدون )
