Quran 3:177
Surah Aal-i-Imraan, Verse 177

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱشْتَرَوُا۟ ٱلْكُفْرَ بِٱلْإِيمَٰنِ لَن يَضُرُّوا۟ ٱللَّهَ شَيْـًٔا وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
Word by word
إِنَّ inna Indeed ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna those who ٱشْتَرَوُا۟ ish'tarawū (have) purchased ٱلْكُفْرَ l-kuf'ra [the] disbelief بِٱلْإِيمَـٰنِ bil-īmāni with the faith لَن lan never يَضُرُّوا۟ yaḍurrū will they harm ٱللَّهَ l-laha Allah شَيْـًۭٔا shayan (in) anything وَلَهُمْ walahum and for them عَذَابٌ ʿadhābun (is) a punishment أَلِيمٌۭ alīmun painful
Transliteration
Inna allatheena ishtarawoo alkufrabil-eemani lan yadurroo Allahashay-an walahum AAathabun aleem
Translations
Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall
Those who purchase disbelief at the price of faith harm Allah not at all, but theirs will be a painful doom.
Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali
Those who purchase Unbelief at the price of faith,- not the least harm will they do to Allah, but they will have a grievous punishment.
تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir
ثم قال تعالى مخبرا عن ذلك إخبارا مقررا : ( إن الذين اشتروا الكفر بالإيمان ) أي : استبدلوا هذا بهذا ( لن يضروا الله شيئا ) أي : ولكن يضرون أنفسهم ( ولهم عذاب أليم ) .
