Quran 3:3

Surah Aal-i-Imraan, Verse 3

نَزَّلَ عَلَيْكَ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ بِٱلْحَقِّ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَأَنزَلَ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ وَٱلْإِنجِيلَ

Word by word

نَزَّلَ nazzala He revealed عَلَيْكَ ʿalayka to you ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ l-kitāba the Book بِٱلْحَقِّ bil-ḥaqi in [the] truth مُصَدِّقًۭا muṣaddiqan confirming لِّمَا limā that which بَيْنَ bayna (was) يَدَيْهِ yadayhi before it وَأَنزَلَ wa-anzala and He revealed ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ l-tawrāta the Taurat وَٱلْإِنجِيلَ wal-injīla and the Injeel

Transliteration

Nazzala AAalayka alkitaba bilhaqqimusaddiqan lima bayna yadayhi waanzala attawratawal-injeel

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

He hath revealed unto thee (Muhammad) the Scripture with truth, confirming that which was (revealed) before it, even as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

It is He Who sent down to thee (step by step), in truth, the Book, confirming what went before it; and He sent down the Law (of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus)

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

وقوله تعالى ( نزل عليك الكتاب بالحق ) يعني : نزل عليك القرآن يا محمد ) بالحق ) أي : لا شك فيه ولا ريب ، بل هو منزل من عند الله [ عز وجل ] أنزله بعلمه والملائكة يشهدون ، وكفى بالله شهيدا .

وقوله : ( مصدقا لما بين يديه ) أي : من الكتب المنزلة قبله من السماء على عباد الله الأنبياء ، فهي تصدقه بما أخبرت به وبشرت في قديم الزمان ، وهو يصدقها ، لأنه طابق ما أخبرت به وبشرت ، من الوعد من الله بإرسال محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم ، وإنزال القرآن العظيم عليه .

وقوله : ( وأنزل التوراة ) أي : على موسى بن عمران [ عليه السلام ] ) والإنجيل ) أي : على عيسى ابن مريم .
