Quran 31:24
Surah Luqman, Verse 24

نُمَتِّعُهُمْ قَلِيلًا ثُمَّ نَضْطَرُّهُمْ إِلَىٰ عَذَابٍ غَلِيظٍ
Word by word
نُمَتِّعُهُمْ numattiʿuhum We grant them enjoyment قَلِيلًۭا qalīlan (for) a little ثُمَّ thumma then نَضْطَرُّهُمْ naḍṭarruhum We will force them إِلَىٰ ilā to عَذَابٍ ʿadhābin a punishment غَلِيظٍۢ ghalīẓin severe
Transliteration
NumattiAAuhum qaleelan thumma nadtarruhumila AAathabin ghaleeth
Translations

We give them comfort for a little, and then We drive them to a heavy doom.
Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali
We grant them their pleasure for a little while: in the end shall We drive them to a chastisement unrelenting.
تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir
ثم قال : ( نمتعهم قليلا ) أي : في الدنيا ، ( ثم نضطرهم ) أي : نلجئهم ( إلى عذاب غليظ ) أي : فظيع صعب مشق على النفوس ، كما قال تعالى : ( إن الذين يفترون على الله الكذب لا يفلحون متاع في الدنيا ثم إلينا مرجعهم ثم نذيقهم العذاب الشديد بما كانوا يكفرون ) [ يونس : 69 ، 70 ] .
