Quran 39:15

Surah Az-Zumar, Verse 15

فَٱعْبُدُوا۟ مَا شِئْتُم مِّن دُونِهِۦ قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ ٱلَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَأَهْلِيهِمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ أَلَا ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْخُسْرَانُ ٱلْمُبِينُ

Word by word

فَٱعْبُدُوا۟ fa-uʿ'budū So worship مَا mā what شِئْتُم shi'tum you will مِّن min besides Him دُونِهِۦ ۗ dūnihi besides Him قُلْ qul Say إِنَّ inna Indeed ٱلْخَـٰسِرِينَ l-khāsirīna the losers ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna (are) those who خَسِرُوٓا۟ khasirū (will) lose أَنفُسَهُمْ anfusahum themselves وَأَهْلِيهِمْ wa-ahlīhim and their families يَوْمَ yawma (on the) Day ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۗ l-qiyāmati (of) the Resurrection أَلَا alā Unquestionably ذَٰلِكَ dhālika that هُوَ huwa it ٱلْخُسْرَانُ l-khus'rānu (is) the loss ٱلْمُبِينُ l-mubīnu the clear

Transliteration

FaAAbudoo ma shi/tum mindoonihi qul inna alkhasireena allatheena khasirooanfusahum waahleehim yawma alqiyamati ala thalikahuwa alkhusranu almubeen

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

Then worship what ye will beside Him. Say: The losers will be those who lose themselves and their housefolk on the Day of Resurrection. Ah, that will be the manifest loss!

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

"Serve ye what ye will besides him." Say: "Truly, those in loss are those who lose their own souls and their People on the Day of Judgment: Ah! that is indeed the (real and) evident Loss!

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

( قل إن الخاسرين ) أي : إنما الخاسرون كل الخسران ( الذين خسروا أنفسهم وأهليهم يوم القيامة ) أي : تفارقوا فلا التقاء لهم أبدا ، سواء ذهب أهلوهم إلى الجنة وقد ذهبوا هم إلى النار ، أو أن الجميع أسكنوا النار ، ولكن لا اجتماع لهم ولا سرور ، ( ذلك هو الخسران المبين ) أي : هذا هو الخسار البين الظاهر الواضح .
