Quran 39:55

Surah Az-Zumar, Verse 55

وَٱتَّبِعُوٓا۟ أَحْسَنَ مَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكُم مِّن رَّبِّكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَكُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ بَغْتَةً وَأَنتُمْ لَا تَشْعُرُونَ

Word by word

وَٱتَّبِعُوٓا۟ wa-ittabiʿū And follow أَحْسَنَ aḥsana (the) best مَآ mā (of) what أُنزِلَ unzila is revealed إِلَيْكُم ilaykum to you مِّن min from رَّبِّكُم rabbikum your Lord مِّن min before قَبْلِ qabli before أَن an [that] يَأْتِيَكُمُ yatiyakumu comes to you ٱلْعَذَابُ l-ʿadhābu the punishment بَغْتَةًۭ baghtatan suddenly وَأَنتُمْ wa-antum while you لَا lā (do) not تَشْعُرُونَ tashʿurūna perceive

Transliteration

WattabiAAoo ahsana maonzila ilaykum min rabbikum min qabli an ya/tiyakumu alAAathabubaghtatan waantum la tashAAuroon

Translations

And follow the better (guidance) of that which is revealed unto you from your Lord, before the doom cometh on you suddenly when ye know not,

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

"And follow the best of (the courses) revealed to you from your Lord, before the Penalty comes on you - of a sudden while ye perceive not!-

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

( واتبعوا أحسن ما أنزل إليكم من ربكم ) وهو القرآن العظيم ، ( من قبل أن يأتيكم العذاب بغتة وأنتم لا تشعرون ) أي : من حيث لا تعلمون ولا تشعرون .
