Quran 42:10

Surah Ash-Shura, Verse 10

وَمَا ٱخْتَلَفْتُمْ فِيهِ مِن شَىْءٍ فَحُكْمُهُۥٓ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبِّى عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَإِلَيْهِ أُنِيبُ

Word by word

وَمَا wamā And whatever ٱخْتَلَفْتُمْ ikh'talaftum you differ فِيهِ fīhi in it مِن min of شَىْءٍۢ shayin a thing فَحُكْمُهُۥٓ faḥuk'muhu then its ruling إِلَى ilā (is) to ٱللَّهِ ۚ l-lahi Allah ذَٰلِكُمُ dhālikumu That ٱللَّهُ l-lahu (is) Allah رَبِّى rabbī my Lord عَلَيْهِ ʿalayhi upon Him تَوَكَّلْتُ tawakkaltu I put my trust وَإِلَيْهِ wa-ilayhi and to Him أُنِيبُ unību I turn

Transliteration

Wama ikhtalaftum feehi min shay-in fahukmuhuila Allahi thalikumu Allahu rabbeeAAalayhi tawakkaltu wa-ilayhi oneeb

Translations

Pickthall — Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall

And in whatsoever ye differ, the verdict therein belongeth to Allah. Such is my Lord, in Whom I put my trust, and unto Whom I turn.

Yusuf Ali — Abdullah Yusuf Ali

Whatever it be wherein ye differ, the decision thereof is with Allah: such is Allah my Lord: In Him I trust, and to Him I turn.

تفسير ابن كثير — Ismail ibn Kathir

ثم قال : ( وما اختلفتم فيه من شيء فحكمه إلى الله ) أي : مهما اختلفتم فيه من الأمور وهذا عام في جميع الأشياء ، ( فحكمه إلى الله ) أي : هو الحاكم فيه بكتابه ، وسنة نبيه - صلى الله عليه وسلم - كقوله : ( فإن تنازعتم في شيء فردوه إلى الله والرسول ) [ النساء : 59 ] . .

( ذلكم الله ربي ) أي : الحاكم في كل شيء ، ( عليه توكلت وإليه أنيب ) أي : أرجع في جميع الأمور .
